It’s important to follow proper aftercare instructions when receiving semi permanent cosmetic tattooing, such as Lip Blushing. That way, the longevity of your new lips increases and the lip color will appear just the way you want it to once the treated area heals.
The healed results are dependent on the client taking proper care of their semi permanent lip makeup. We want our clients to be happy with their results, so make sure you read through the healing process and aftercare instructions carefully.
Lip Blush Healing Process
The healing process takes about 3 weeks to complete. During this time, your lips will go through various phases. This is very normal and it is important that you trust the process.
During the first week, clients have a phase of chapping of the lips where your lips may feel dry. You may experience swelling, bruising and tenderness as well.
The next phase the lips go through will appear ‘frosty’, or appear to lose color.
The final phase will be the ‘blooming’ phase where the color will enhance and settle into the natural lips. After about 3 weeks the color that you see is the color that you will continue to have.
The best results generally come from a two step process, so permanent makeup touch up appointments are highly encouraged. Touch ups are important and help to ensure that you will have the gorgeous lips that you desire.
With a touch up, we will analyze your color and go over any areas that need extra attention. Touch ups are typically done a few weeks after the healing process has completed.
Lip Blush Tattoo Aftercare
To ensure your Lip Blush results turn out the way you want them to, you must follow these do’s and don’ts of aftercare instructions for your semi permanent makeup.
During the healing process it is important to remember to follow these aftercare rules:

Keep lips moisturized and clean
Avoid sun exposure and swimming during the healing process
Drink through a straw the first few days after your procedure
Avoid wearing lip liner, lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm or other makeup products for your lips during the healing process
If you are prone to cold sores, this procedure may activate these conditions, so consult your doctor first
Do not peel or pick at chapping lips
Avoid touching and biting your lips, this can cause irritation, infection, or loss of pigment
